Balancing, travel, work, and homelife.
A little while ago, I accepted a new full time job. I live in a small town, so I knew the owners well, and I was totally okay with being upfront with them. During the interview, I explained that I had two trips booked one in October, and one in February, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get the job considering I'd be gone for a little over 2 weeks each trip. But they assured me that it shouldn't be an issue, I just about hug her because it was like this huge weight off my chest.
So, with work completed, how do I handle travelling and home life? Well, most of the time, people will travel during the summer, I mean who wouldn't it? When got my horses I kind of signed my life away, summertime is hay season. Starting around mid June, and goes into lord knows when. I can barely go to the local fairs let alone travel, so when I decide to travel I really need to consider my dates.
The trip in February was already marked down due to a wedding, so I couldn't really change that date even if I wanted to. However the one is October was planned a little different. Like I said, hay season can sometimes go right into late August, so that wasn't going to work. I could've done September, but my parents are going a week long trip, so that's out of the question. October was the perfect time, I planned to go from the 1st to 15th, then I got an inquire for a wedding on the 14th. So, I couldn't do that, I decided that the 16th to 31st. Well, that was a good plan, until the friend I'm staying with has work conference in Germany, and suggest I stay a little longer and explore Germany as she works. HECK YEAH!
So, the final dates for Austria are October 16th to November 2nd, a little longer than originally expected, but those mountains are calling me, and I can't wait to go! So my advice to you, the reader, make sure to clear it with your work first, definitely be up front. Then you have to figure out dates and when the best time to fly is. Do your research, it will help!
